We respect different cultures, customs and values of all people in the Lao society and we comply with and when necessary go beyond the requirements of the legislation and regulations in Lao PDR.
We address sustainability throughout our value chain, and we expect our suppliers to comply with our policy and principles related to sustainability.
Economic Responsibility
We must be a profitable business and an attractive and trustworthy investment, employer, supplier and business partner. We strive to contribute to the economic wellbeing of the Lao society through increasing export, paying taxes, social insurances and other socio-economic contributions.
Environmental Responsibility
We source wood purely from well managed plantations. We undertake not to utilize wood from any of the following sources,
• Illegally harvested wood,
• Wood harvested in violation of traditional or civil rights,
• Wood harvested from forests in which high conservation values
are threatened by management activities,
• Wood harvested from areas being converted from forests and
other wooded ecosystems to plantations or non-forest uses, or
• Wood from forests in which genetically modified (GM) trees
are planted.
We constantly work with and develop agroforestry models, which contribute to food security and reduced slash and burn cultivation.
We follow the Principles & Criteria of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) for plantation management in tropical areas and we follow all national laws and regulation related to plantation management. Our target is to be FSC – certified before the end of 2010.
Social responsibility
We adhere to ethic business practices in all our activities. We follow globally accepted human and labour rights and strictly follow the Lao Labour Law. We create a healthy and safe workplace forour employees. We are a responsible neighbour and we support social development in our neighbourhood.
