The Lao Government grants land concession of 2,000 hectares to Burapha


The Government of Lao PDR, represented by the Ministry of Planning and Investment, grants land concessions to Burapha for 2,000 hectares of unused land in the National Production Forest Areas in Vientiane province for a 50-year concessional period. This is the first step of Burapha’s 60,000 hectares expansion plan.​​​

The concession agreement was signed by the Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment, Ms Khamchanh Vongsenboun, and Burapha’s COO Håkan Eriksén.

During the event, Burapha’s Deputy COO Ms Souphayvanh Thiengchanhxay, gave a speech and amongst others mentioned: “After this year’s planting season Burapha will have 5,300 hectares planted. The plantations in Vientiane province are well located, since they are in the proximity of the plywood factory which currently is being built in Hin Hoeup.”

The Government of Lao PDR wishes to promote the economic development of the Lao PDR through supporting and promoting the development of plantations and forest industry. The goal is that a growing forestry sector shall support local development, create employment for the communities and promote domestic businesses.
